Haltech-sponsored Pro Stock Buell

With Haltech’s backing, Matt Smith had entered his Pro Stock Buell in the largest drag race in the world. The US Nationals sees 300,000 spectators over 4 days and this was one of the most attended race in 10 years.

The weekend started great with Matt qualifying at the top of his class with an ET of 6.95@ 91mph. This time would hold until the next day when the temperature dropped from 100 degrees to 59 degrees and Matt moved to the second spot with a time of 6.93@191mph.

Bad luck struck in the first round of qualifying. After making clutch adjustments necessary for the big power gains with 62 degree air temperature, the clutch lockup up during launch causing the tire to spin out of control. Unfazed by the experience Matt summed it up rather aptly: “That’s racing!”

“Thanks to everyone at Haltech for giving us this chance at the largest drag race in the world. We qualified #2 and had the power to go all the way. The data we get from the new 2 channel AFR unit is awesome! We were promised consistency and you guys delivered. Everything we try on these “paint shakers” fails but the Haltech unit hasn’t let us down.”

Haltech Engine Management Systems is proud to be a part of the team and wishes Matt the best of luck in the future events.
