And they’re off!

We’re off to take part in the Shitbox Rally. Yes you’ve read correctly, and no, it’s not a joke.

Shitbox Rally is an event organised with the aim of raising funds for the Australian Cancer Council. The rules are fairly simple; the value of the rally car cannot be more than $1000, and it must be road-worthy. Each team member needs to raise a minimumĀ  of $4,000 to participate in the rally.

It will take us from sunny Brisbane, into the Queensland outback, North to the Table and Savannah Lands, through escarpment country, million acre cattle stations, river crossings, aboriginal settlements, across to Katherine Gorge and onto Darwin via Kakadu.

Jake, Elwood and errr… Bruce pose with what will be their home for the next 7 days.

Haltech’s entry into this year’s Shitbox Rally is a Holden Commodore VN. Our team wasted no time in turning the car into a replica of an American Police Car (well, sort of…). This fited perfectly with our “Blues Brothers” theme.

Of course there’s no shortage of Haltech products onboard including the recently released Platinum Sport GM, RacePak data logging and a few of the new CAN devices. Click here for a full run-down on our “Blues Mobile”.

It’s 6000 kilometres to Darwin, we have a full tank of gas, it’s Friday and we’re wearing sunglasses…

Will the car make it to Darwin? We’ll just have to wait and see, but the large puddle of oil left behind the car as it drove off doesn’t inspire confidence…

To be continued…
