Starting its life as a 1992 Mazda RX7 FD, MADBUL is “Mad” Mike Whiddett’s first truly international drift car with a history stretching back over a decade.

Over the years the car has undergone numerous face lifts with the latest, called Gen 7.3, being perhaps the most visually striking.

The most obvious change is the RX3 nose cone which has been skillfully and tastefully grafted onto the RX7 body. But the “retro” overhaul doesn’t end there.

Rocket Bunny custom body kit perfectly blends the 1990s RX7 shape with the 1970s RX3 front.

Look closely and you’ll see cool retro touches everywhere. From a genuine 12A Savanah grill, the 10A rotor emblem to 1970s style stickers.

Fender mounted hockey stick mirrors are a nice touch.

Rotiform wheels complete the retro look and give the car its super aggressive stance.

Even the license plate comes with its own piece of history. It belonged to Kawato-san and was on the HUMBUL RX7 when Mike drove it to victory at the Japanese round of Formula Drift Championship in 2016.

The engine is a screaming, peripherally ported quad rotor controlled by an all-Haltech engine management system complete with an IQ3 logger dash.
