Martin Connelley’s 6-sec X275 Mustang

Martin Connelley’s 1999 SBF fox body Ford Mustang is a great example of a simple, home-built race car that punches well above its weight.

Martin’s original setup included a Nitrous-fed big block Ford which, while not lacking in power, proved difficult to manage and expensive to fix.

“We are not a big budget team,” said Martin “and the Nitrous setup required costly rebuilds after each event.”

Looking for a less costly and more reliable power Martin decided to go down the small block + turbo path.

The current setup consists of a 388ci small block with an 85mm Precision Promod turbo mated to an RPM 2-speed transmission.

All the essential data is relayed via an IQ3 Dash.

Competing at the Haltech World Cup Finals – Import vs Domestic Martin set a new PB of 6.970@195mph in the X275 vs Hot Rod class.

He went on to set a top speed PB breaking the 200mph speed for the first time.

It is truly amazing to see a small, home-grown team taking on the big guys and giving them a run for their money.

“We’re just some hillbilly nitrous guys trying to figure this turbo stuff out. We couldn’t do it without Haltech’s help!”
