The Rolling Contradiction – WRX Mini

When you’ve got a passion for Subaru’s and a passion for Mini’s, why not combine them? Steve Holland, aka Dutchy, was not quite satisfied with the builds that had been done before, so he set out to create something that nobody had ever seen, nor something anybody would expect, and of course, Haltech was the only option.

Typically, when building a house, a majority of people would make having an extra bathroom or office space their priority, not Steve. He had to make sure he had a garage built exactly the way that he wanted to allow him to build the master piece that is the WRX Mini

Dutchy took an EJ25 and a 5-speed gearbox straight from a 2011 Subaru WRX and dropped it into the Mini. Well, technically, he dropped the Mini onto the EJ! Using MX5 suspension, the WRX cradles a chassis made mostly of custom fabrication work. What’s left of the original 1961 Mini is what you see, original body, front floor and firewall with some custom metal flares to house the 15 Inch OX wheels

An Elite 2500 was chosen to power this beast with the use of the factory Subaru wiring harness; the original WRX loom controls this mini from headlight to taillight. An iC-7, Wideband, and Boost Controller are all included in the electronics package along with Steve’s banging sound system that makes this a true street car.
