GMC Racing Time Attack WRX STi
Guiliano and Marco, the founders of Italy-based GMC Racing are the brains behind this Subaru time attack monster and today’s Haltech Heroes.

It’s been a long and arduous journey but the Impreza finally made its first appearance at Time Attack Italia earlier this year.
“The debut was our first test to prove the car and its power, however, we’re planning to perform better and better in the next races to come.”

We were lucky enough to get our hands on GMC Racing’s build list that reveals some of the secrets behind this flat-four Time Attack machine.

Roaring under the bonnet is an EJ25 engine with L.A.Sleeve bars, pistons, and rods. The heads include Ferrea valves and springs along with a GSC stage 3 camshaft.

Intake manifolds were produced and installed by GMC Racing along with two Xona turbochargers.

The Subaru uses a Spec C gearbox, but the guys are considering upgrading to a sequential setup.

All the usual safety items are there; a six-point roll cage, race buckets seats and harnesses to keep the driver safe.

The front/rear roll cage and the engine frame reinforcement were all built in-house by GMC Racing.

The engine management system consists of a Haltech NEXUS R5 paired with an iC-7 display dash and accompanied by an array of sensors.

All of the important functions can be engaged by a simple touch of a button courtesy of a Haltech CAN keypad.

Of course, being a time attack car, all components are encased in an aerodynamic body made out of WRC fibreglass. An oversized super-aggressive Reverie spoiler has been fitted for extra downforce to assist when cornering, keeping the car glued to the tarmac.

The GMC Racing team will continue to use the remaining races of the Time Attack Italia Championship to test the Subaru and push it to its limits.
“The car has now reached 660HP, but that’s not the final result… We’re still working on it, improving as each day passes.”
