DriftCat and her NASCAR powered Calais Drift Car
Catherine Coleiro, widely known as DriftCat, is a long-standing figure in the Australian drift scene. With a career that spans decades, Catherine is recognised not only for her achievements on the track but also for her contribution to the ubiquity of women in Australian motorsport and drifting worldwide.
Humble origins
Catherine began her motorsport journey in motocross, competing on 80cc bikes as a child. Her early racing experience helped lay the groundwork for her entry into drifting. In 2003, she became Australia’s first professional female drift driver, joining the national drift scene during its formative years.

A Comeback Story
After taking a break from competitive drifting to focus on family and business, Catherine returned to the sport with a purpose-built car: a VK-fronted VL Calais, powered by a 358ci Dodge NASCAR V8, running on E85. To control it all, her Calais is equipped with a Haltech suite, including a Nexus R5 VCU, iC-7 Digital Dash, and CAN Keypads. This setup allows Catherine to fine-tune performance and monitor real-time data, both in competition and during development.

Just a Driver
Catherine values the inclusive nature of motorsport, where she’s recognised not for her gender or background, but for her skill. Being seen as “just a driver,” no different from anyone else on track, is something that empowers her. She believes motorsport should be a space where no one is limited by race, gender, size, strength, or disability. Passionate about promoting this message, Catherine is committed to creating opportunities for others, particularly women, that she didn’t have when she began. Her influence goes beyond competition, she’s helping to shape a more inclusive future for the sport.

Catherine’s hands-on approach, technical expertise, and relentless drive to push boundaries perfectly embody the values of innovation, performance, and passion, making her a true Haltech Hero.
