There aren’t many racing classes where you get to see some of the most unique engine and car combinations racing door-to-door around a circuit. LS swapped FD Rx7s racing door-to-door with Aston Martins and a few classic Trans-Am spec cars just for good measure.
The Sports Sedan Series in Australia has very few limitations, leading to an array of amazing cars with some truly ingenious ideas hiding under the fiberglass bodies.
Jason Waye, owner of Tuff Mounts, is one of these lunatics who pilots the “Cortzilla” in the Sports Sedan Series in his RB25-powered Ford Cortina.
For the type of racing Jason was doing, he had one big change that he was keen on… A sequentially shifted gearbox with flat shift enabled via an Elite 2500 ECU.
“You can fly down the straight without doing anything, keep your foot pinned, and just pull gears. It auto-blips on gears and everything. My left foot just doesn’t do anything. The flat shifting setup has made it so easy.”

Put simply by Jason, the main reason for this track-ready build is to just get out there and have fun!
And that’s what it’s about, getting familiar with your car, working up to the limits and ultimately, getting seat time in the project you’ve put so many hours into.
