LCS 4X4 FJ45/80 SERIES LANDCRUISER

For Lawrie of LCS 4X4, Landcruisers are in his blood. His journey began in the passenger seat of his dad’s 40 series just weeks after he was born. This sparked a lifelong passion for old “farm utes,” which he was constantly modifying to keep up with his mates in their newer, more capable 4WDs.

All those years of wrenching and innovation have led to this: a one-of-a-kind FJ45/80 hybrid. The build starts with a classic FJ45 cab mounted on a custom chassis inspired by the legendary 80 series. Under the bonnet lies the heart of the beast: a supercharged LS3 V8. Thanks to a Harrop supercharger, it puts out a reliable 400 kW, with a Turbo 400 transmission and an Atlas 4-speed transfer case handling the power.

The brain of the operation is a Haltech Nexus R5, which, along with two 15-button keypads, puts every function at Lawrie’s fingertips. This central command controls everything from throttle sensitivity and lighting to the winches, with all critical data displayed on a uC-10 dash. A unique feature of the driveline is its versatility; the Atlas transfer case allows Lawrie to switch between rear-wheel, front-wheel, and four-wheel drive to conquer any obstacle.

While initially built with competition in mind, the truck’s true purpose has evolved. Today, Lawrie gets the most joy from hitting the tracks with friends and exploring the vast Australian landscape.

The next chapter for this incredible machine involves a rear-end conversion to a more tour-friendly setup, with its sights set on the Simpson Desert and the Victorian High Country.
