The Kings of No Prep
Between them, Marty Robertson’s “Bad Fish” Barracuda, Jason Terrell’s “Charlie Brown” Malibu, Tony McKinney’s “Novacaine” Nova and Jim Howe’s “The Gaurdian” Camaro make in excess of 15,000hp. You’d think with this much power these cars would race exclusively on tracks prep’d to a Pro Mod spec… Well, you’d be wrong! They’re all racing each other at No Prep Kings!
Jim Howe
Car: “The Gaurdian” 1968 Camaro.
Engine: Screw Blown, 521ci Hemi V8
Engine management: Haltech Nexus R5

In case you’re wondering about the spelling of “The Gaurdian”, it’s intentional. Here’s Jim’s explanation in an article from Dragzine: “Your eyes are not deceiving you as you read the name, “The Gaurdian,” which is misspelled with intent. According to Howe, the proper spelling is trademarked, so he had to improvise. “I went to college, I can spell,” Howe told us with a smirk. The decklid has been dedicated to his daughter, Sienna, who passed away all too young a year ago.)”
To a casual observer the Odom Racing R35 might look totally different from Jim’s Camaro but underneath their fibreglass bodies these two cars are identical. Both run the same screw-blown, big block Hemi combo with a Haltech engine management system.

Marty Robertson
Car: “Bad Fish” 1968 Plymouth Barracuda by Larry Jeffers Racecars
Engine: Supercharged big block Hemi V8
Engine management: Haltech Nexus R5 tuned by Patrick from PTP Racing.
Marty went on to win the NPK Future Street Outlaw class in Houston and backed it up with another win in Tulsa.
“While we started the year out with intentions to be a ProCharged setup, we quickly learned that our engine package was more conducive to a screw blower to maximize power. The engines we are currently running are some leftover pieces that were tailored for a legal screw-blown package. As most of our fans know the Badfish can show up with just about any power trim on it. Badfish has been turbo, ProCharged and screw blown combinations in the past and we will run whatever is to our advantage at the moment”.

Tony McKinney
Car: “Novacaine” 1966 Nova
Engine: Screw-Blown 521ci Noonan Hemi V8
Engine management: Haltech Nexus R5
Tuned by Patrick Barnhill from PTP Racing, Tony’s Nova has got to be the angriest sounding car out there and its bark more than matches its bite!
“This is our first big tire car and now we are running near Pro Mod times and racing the fastest, toughest teams on the planet. In this type of racing, there’s no second chances. You gotta be in it 100%. I’m not here just to be on TV, I’m here to win!”

Jason Terrell
Car: “Charlie Brown” 1979 Chevy Malibu
Engine: 600ci, nitrous-fed Chevy big block V9
Engine management: Haltech Nexus R5
“It might look old school on the outside – a good, old American four-door sedan but it’s all business underneath. It’s got a state-of-the-art chassis and the latest Haltech gear!”
