uC-10 Digital Dash

Ever since we released our first colour dash, the iC-7, a few years ago, you have been asking us to make another one. “We just want a nice big, clear screen without the buttons, shift lights, or other distractions,” you said. Well, we heard you loud and clear, so today we’re very happy to reveal the latest in our digital dash line-up, the big, loud and clear uC-10.

Launched at the PRI show in Indianapolis – The Haltech uC-10 dash is a classic blend of technology and style. Its 10-inch display offers ample space to monitor critical vehicle data in real-time. The full-color TFT screen is optically bonded, ensuring crystal-clear visibility even in bright sunlight, and the sleek aluminum enclosure ensures it will look great in any vehicle.

Key Features

Crystal Clear Screen: The uC-10 is fitted with a full-color, optically bonded TFT screen featuring a 70° minimum viewing angle (vertical and horizontal) screen specs are: 1280 x 480 resolution, 600+ lumens.

uC-10 FAQs

Does this replace the iC-7?

No, the iC-7 is here to stay!

I have an iC-7, but now I want to upgrade to a uC-10, is that possible?

Not only is that possible, it is easy! The uC-10 has the same mounting points as the iC-7. So, the HT-060070 iC-7 Standard Dash Mount is compatible with the uC-10. The Superseal connector is the same as the iC-7, however, some re-pinning may be required, depending on your setup.

Can I customize the screen layouts?

Through the new dash section in our NSP software, you’re able to change channels and choose your colour settings on our default screens.

I see it comes with a Wi-Fi antenna in the box, does that mean it is Wi-Fi compatible?

Not yet. The uC-10 does have a Wi-Fi module in it which will become available in a future firmware update, so don’t lose your Wi-Fi antenna!

It logs data, so can it do lap timing?

No, not at the time of release.

How much will it cost?

Check our website for your local pricing and availability.

What’s in the box?

Note: OBDII functionality requires additional cable HT-135003 (sold separately).

Tyre Monitoring System TMS-4

The Haltech TMS-4 is a simple, plug and play way to measure both tyre temperature and pressures through Haltech Elite and Nexus series ECUs. TMS-4 is available in two kits with either external or internal sensors.

In or Out?

External Sensors are fitted directly to the valves on your tyres without removal. These sensors screw directly on to your existing valves. They are held in place with an anti-theft lock nut and will not require tyre removal or re-balancing. Each sensor uses a small battery located under the sensor cover and typically has a 1 to 2 year life span before needing to be replaced.

Internal Sensors mount inside of the tyre and rim. These sensors replace the existing tyre valves meaning you will have to remove the tyre from the wheel to install. They use a built-in battery which has an average life span of about 3 years.

Both sensors have a working range of 0-110 psi and can trigger a DTC if it detects too high or too low of a pressure. They also can warn you if tyre temperature gets too high.

How does it all work?

The TMS-4 receiver takes in the signal from each of the four tyre pressure sensors and sends it to your Haltech ECU through the CAN cable (included in each kit).

Connecting the receiver is a simple matter of plugging the 6 pin connector into the rear of the receiver and connecting the DTM connector into your Haltech CAN network.

They will display as separate tyre channels in the ESP software and can be re-assigned to any wheel if you need to rotate tyres or swap wheels. The sensors can also be turned off in the software if you do not want to monitor a specific wheel.

The latest firmware and software update for the iC-7 allows you to monitor these tyre temperature and pressure channels on your iC-7 display dash.

NOTE: To use the TMS-4 on any of our Elite series ECUs you will need to upgrade to at least 2.37 firmware and be using ESP software version 2.45 or later. Both of these are now released and available from our DOWNLOADS page.

Linear Position Sensors

Most commonly used as shock travel sensors, the Linear Position Sensors can also be used to measure gearbox shaft position, differential angle, or in any application that requires linear position data. In short, these simple sensors can make your ride not just faster but also more predictable.

Used as shock travel sensors, Haltech’s Linear Position Sensors can measure and log the speed and distance of your shock’s compression, extension, rebound, etc. to give you an accurate picture of how the vehicle reacts to the track surface and changes. They remove the guesswork out of chassis tuning. Armed with this information, you can significantly cut down on testing and adjusting, saving not just time but wear and tear on your vehicle.

How do they work?

A linear potentiometer includes a slider that moves in both directions, proportionally dividing the applied voltage over its operational range thus creating a voltage output based on the position of the slider.

This voltage signal is then received by the ECU and interpreted as “travel” measured in inches or millimeters. As well as travel we can also monitor the speed of compression and extension of the slider.

PD16 – Power Distribution Reimagined

Before we get into discussing the details of the new PD16, let’s start at the beginning. What exactly is this “Power Distribution” we keep hearing about?

What is Power Distribution

Power Distribution (in the automotive wiring world) is the method of physically distributing 12V power throughout the vehicle. In years gone past, this task was typically performed through a series of mechanical switches, relays, and fuses. Not unlike the 6-channel relay box that comes with Haltech Premium wiring harnesses.

A Power Distribution module (like the new Haltech PD16), is just like this mechanical fuse relay box, but smarter. Just like a fuse block, it has a main power input and outputs that turn devices like fans and pumps on or off. But unlike your conventional fuse relay block, there are no mechanical contacts and no physical fuses to blow.

With the PD16, all of the on and off switching is done with solid-state drivers and fuse currents are set digitally by the end-user. So in essence, the PD-16 replaces your mechanical relays and fuses.

Haltech PD16

How does a Power Distribution module make wiring easier and safer?

With a Power Distribution module your wiring is more intuitive, easier to troubleshoot, and safer. Because we’ve eliminated all fusible links or relays there is no chance of electro-mechanical failures. Additionally, solid-state drivers are fully programmable, so you can change your triggers/switches on the fly without any physical re-wiring.

Let’s say we want to turn on our electric fan at 170 degrees, but also when the A/C compressor is turned on, or even turn off the fan if the vehicle is moving at highway speeds? This can all be done using logic within the NSP software.

The PD16 also allows a user to monitor current draw in real-time, set programmable fuse limits and, because those fuse limits are set digitally, they can also be reset digitally which means if a circuit does go over current for any reason you can program the PD16 to reset the fuse after a certain time period.

The more familiar you become with your PD16, the more you will be able to take advantage of its customizable options. That’s the beauty of this system, it truly is infinitely customizable. You can make it as simple or as complicated as you want it to be while running the minimum amount of wiring necessary.

How is Haltech’s PD16 different to other PDMs?

The PD16 has been designed to integrate directly with Haltech’s Elite and Nexus series devices. What that means is your Haltech ECU and your Haltech PD16 are programmed using the same NSP software. WIth other PDM systems, setting up and programming outputs and channel functions can be quite a labor-intensive task, but with the Haltech PD16 once the power wiring is complete you simply plug the PD16 into the ECU CAN bus and it’s automatically recognised on the bus.

How does it all work?

The main power from the battery comes into the unit via the 120A fully sealed SurLok connector. A 4 pin Deutsch DTP connector houses 4 x 25A high or low side switching outputs. Each of these 4 pins is capable of supplying up to 25A of current. The 25A HCOs (High Current Outputs) can be pulsed width modulated at speeds of up to 1khz, or 1000 times per second, which makes them capable of doing speed control on thermo fans or fuel pumps straight out of the box.

Haltech PD16

NOTE: The 25A rating is the limit of the Deutsch DTP pin being used, not the limit of the driver internal to the PD16 unit which means these pins can actually supply significantly more than 25A for short periods of time.

A 34pin Superseal connector houses 10 x 8A high side outputs. These outputs can supply up to 8A of continuous current on each output. There are also 2 x 8A high/low push-pull, H-bridge outputs that can be used for DC motor control like Varex variable exhaust flaps.

The 8 programmable inputs on the 34-pin connector can be used as analog voltage inputs for pressure and temperature sensors, 4 of these inputs are also capable of accepting high-speed switched inputs for things like wheel speed inputs and frequency-based flex fuel sensors.

A 5V sensor supply and a signal ground for powering up any sensors that will be wired into the PD16 is also on the 34-pin connector.

Haltech PD16

The PD16 is directly integrated with the NSP software so any sensors, inputs or outputs wired into the PD16 are automatically and instantly available for ECU functions as well. So it is, for example, possible to set a boost trim based on whether your headlights are on or off.

Haltech PD16

Each output channel has its own LED status indicator light. If the LED isn’t lighting up it means the channel is off. If it lights up green – the channel is on and operating correctly. If the LED is showing as red then the channel is in a “Fault” state, usually caused by an overcurrent.

Accessorise!

The PD16 is supported by a range of accessories, from tube mount kits to a full 5m flying lead harness to simplify those big wiring jobs.

CAN Keypads for Elite ECUs

When we’ve introduced the Nexus R5 VCU one of the first questions we got asked was: “Hey, when can we get one of those cool keypads for the Elite series ECUs?” We are happy to announce that the Elite series ECUs are now compatible with the CAN Keypads.

Both 8 button and 15 button keypad versions are now compatible with Elite and Nexus series ECUs. The installation and setup are simple, but you need to be running at least version 3.03 firmware for Elite series ECU. You can download it from haltech.com.

NOTE: This update does not change the Haltech keypads in any way – they remain exactly the same. The code within the keypad itself has not changed, only the firmware and software for the ECU has been updated. If you purchased a keypad 6 months ago you can use that same keypad on your Elite series ECU now.

Available in 2×4 and 3×5 button configurations, these keypads expand the functionality of your Haltech ECU by adding extra inputs.

The backlight and LED indicator lights feature adjustable brightness and add clarity while tastefully blending with any car interior.

With soft-touch, ergonomically designed buttons, these keypads are easy to use and simple to configure. Vibration and impact resistant (IP67 rating) these keypads are rugged, robust and ready for action!

The keypads come supplied with a set of custom labels.

Each button can be set up as either a momentary or a toggle function. Momentary switches are used for things like staging creep control where the function stays on only for as long as you are holding the button down.

A toggle switch can be used for headlights where you press the button once for the lights to come on, and they stay on until the button is depressed a second time to turn the output off.

There are three LED status lights on each button; green, amber and red.

Green indicates the current state of the button (on or off).

Amber represents the output state of the function associated with the button. This LED is on if the function is outputting, for example, if the button is set up as a thermofan override, this amber light illuminates when the fan is ‘on’ regardless of whether it’s been triggered by engine temperature or the button.

Red indicates an error.

NTK O2 Wideband Kits

We are excited to announce the addition of the NTK version to our O2 Wideband range. The NTK WB1 and NTK WB2 join the Bosch LSU 4.9 wideband kits that have been the mainstay of Haltech’s wideband O2 controller offerings for a number of years.

Why NTK?

The Bosch 4.9 sensor while very popular and perfectly suitable for most performance applications does have its limitations. Fuels that are not petrol or gasoline-based and air-fuel ratios that are richer than 0.7 lambda significantly shorten the working life of a Bosch 4.9 sensor.

The NTK LZA08 sensor is considerably more robust and comes supplied with a custom-designed radial shroud to offer a longer sensor life at both richer mixtures and with alternate fuel types like methanol and race gas. The NTK sensor will read reliably all the way down into the 2:1 air-fuel ratio range for methanol drag cars – that’s more than twice the range of the Bosch 4.9 sensor.

Same but different

Much like its Bosch version, the NTK wideband controller similarly comes in a single channel and dual channel variation and looks and interfaces with all Haltech ECUs in exactly the same way.

Daisy-chaining multiple controllers is also just as easy as with the Bosch Wideband Controllers with the integrated DTM-4 connectors making the process nice and simple. NTK Wideband Controllers are also user-programmable letting you assign the controller designation via the ESP software.

Both single and dual-channel Wideband Controllers come integrated with generous length (1200mm/4 foot), pre-terminated sensor connection cables.
