Nexus R5 Approved For NHRA Championship

As of 1/8/2024 the Haltech Nexus R5 Engine Management System has been accepted by the NHRA (National Hot Rod Association) for use within the “NHRA Championship Drag Racing Series”, this acceptance includes the following racing categories:

• Alcohol Dragster
• Alcohol Funny Car
• Pro Mod
• Factory Stock Showdown

In order to be NHRA compliant, entrants must use firmware specifically built for the intended class of racing. This firmware can be from the links, or through the “Tools > Firmware Update” menu of the Haltech NSP (Nexus Software Programmer).
There is no cost for this firmware.

• Firmware version V1.22.3:11

• Firmware version V1.22.3:12

• Firmware version V1.22.3:13

The Nexus R5-V1.22.3 Release 11, 12, 13 firmware has been accepted for use in the Alcohol Dragster, Alcohol Funny Car, Pro Mod, and the Factory Stock Showdown category of the NHRA Championship Drag Racing Series.

NHRA Pro Mod (Pro Charger)

Racers competing within the “NHRA Pro Mod (Pro Charger)” series must use Firmware version V1.22.3:11.
This firmware includes the following class limitations:

• Torque Management allows “Timed Ignition Correction” only. 
• Main RPM Limiter is always enabled.

Main RPM Limiter End RPM fixed to 10,000 RPM 

• Transmission Control – The minimum time between the start of gear shifts is:  
  600ms (0.6 seconds) Gears 1, 2 and 3 
  400ms (0.4 seconds) Gears 4 and above.

NHRA Factory Supercar

Racers competing within the “NHRA Factory Showdown” series must use Firmware version V1.22.3:12.
This firmware includes the following class limitations: 

• Torque Management allows “Timed Ignition Correction” only. 
• Main RPM Limiter is always enabled. 

Main RPM Limiter End RPM fixed to 10,200 RPM 

• Transmission Control – The minimum time between the start of gear shifts is: 
  600ms (0.6 seconds) Gears 1, 2 and 3 
  400ms (0.4 seconds) Gears 4 and above.
